ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings capture memories of travel, good times and the natural beauty all around me. My collectors tell me the same thing- that the paintings remind them of places they have been or important people in their lives, especially sisters, mothers and grandmothers. I like to paint flowers alone or flowers in the landscape, with thick paint applied with a knife and bright colors that jump off the page.

Education/Training
I have been painting for over 20 years now, much of it plein air work. I have participated in many international painting trips to Venice, Tuscany, Paris, Provence, Southern Spain and Israel. I have painted in the lavender fields of Provence, by Monet’s water lily pond, along the Venice canals and the windmills of La Mancha.

Why I Paint
I am inspired by.................
Being outdoors,
The contrast of light and shadows,
Flowers, beautiful hues and color surprises,
And the juxtaposition of opaque and translucent layers.
I want to capture....................
What I felt like when I was there,
Impressions not the details,
And how the scene could be even lovelier.
I value....
The process of painting more than the result,
Being in the "zone" where the painting flows,
Thinking of nothing else,
And being high on art.
I want to.................
Delight viewers with my art,
Create something to look at again and again,
And leave my mark on the world.
